I've mostly worked in deep-tech startups and academic labs. I have significant experience as a tech lead and CTO. I can easily integrate into teams, build teams, and mentor juniors.

I am skilled at prototyping, developing, and modeling systems, simulators, and web applications. I enjoy working at the interface of product design and technical implementation and am deeply interested in development processes and software architecture. Slightly workaholic.

Work Experience

Dognosis, Senior Engineer Jan 2025 -

• Building a data collection solution from scratch using PostgreSQL & time-series database to store various types of data — videos, sensor streams, and events. A user and EHR portal (PHP 8, CodeIgniter 4) along with a few micro-services (FastAPI). I also participate in hiring, especially in technical interviews.

Subconscious Compute, Co-Founder & CTO Dec 2020 - Oct 2024

• I hired and managed a team 15+ developers for developing automation for cyber defense for IoT devices and endpoints (https://www.shepherd.watch). We built a cross-platform kernel agent and a control panel to operate a fleet of agents. I mainly used Rust and occasionally C++.
• As an individual contributor, I developed kernel minifilters (Win32, C++) and eBPF based probes. I modified many mainstream algorithms to use stochastic data-structures e.g. Bloom Filters, Min-Count Sketches etc. to improve runtime performance. I also did fair a bit of web-development (both frontend and backend), hardware design and setup development processes.

Google Summer of Code, Mentor 2015 - 2018

• For four years, I was a mentor for MOOSE Simulator at INCF in Google Summer of Code program.

Kritikal Solutions, Firmware Engineer Dec 2009 - July 2010

• Developed Kalman filter based image stabilization (C++, Multi RTOS) for movie cameras.

Skills

• Programming Languages My primary languages are Rust (4 YoE), C++ (5 YoE), Python (6 YoE), and PHP (5 YoE). I can also write Typescript/JavaScript (1 YoE), Java (1 YoE), Go, and Haskell (2 YoE). My Verilog, VHDL and Bluespec are currently rusty.
• Web Technologies I mainly developed backends using using Rust, Python and PHP and wrote simple frontend using React, Vue3, and web-assembly (Rust).
• Kernel and System Programming Kernel minifilters (C++, Rust), Win32 API (C++, Rust), FFI. I also maintain a few Rust crates for system programming.
• Tools and Operations Packaging, build systems, CICD, FFI, and Rust/C++ ↔ Python bindings. I maintain a few packages for OpenSUSE.
• Modeling, Simulation and System Design During my Ph.D., I worked on MOOSE neural simulator and Smoldyn particle simulator. Skilled at modeling and simulating physical processes.
• Advance Algorithms Network flows, circuit simulation, neural simulation, stochastic data-structures, computer vision, network computation.
